Welcome to EPCOM,
Home of VE7PCE & the VA7RPC Repeater
Welcome to the online web site for Port Coquitlams Emergency
PreparednessCommunications group.
EPCOM was founded in the fall of 2002 with the intention of providing
communications in the event of an emergency. Since then, EPCOM has
been apart of numerous local events including the annual Terry Fox
Run and Canada Celebrations, linking volunteers together.
Along with participating in community events, EPCOM also gets together
for the American Radio Relay League (ARRL) Field Day. Field Day
happens every year on the last full weekend in June at Castle Park
in Port Coquitlam BC. At Field Day EPCOM sets up the City’s
emergency shelters and communication equipment in an event aimed
to practice their skills and test equipment. The Field Day exercise
is intended to allow Amateur Radio operators to practice communication
skills under primitive conditions, with generator and battery-powered
equipment and portable antennas, to contact other Amateur Radio
operators throughout North America.
